The Role

As an Electrical Engineer, you'll be responsible for maintaining and enhancing our electrical and automated manufacturing systems, ensuring maximum equipment reliability and minimum downtime.

You'll work closely with Manufacturing, Engineering and Continuous Improvement teams to identify opportunities, solve technical challenges and deliver improvements that increase productivity, quality and operational performance.

This is a hands-on role where you'll have the opportunity to influence projects, improve machinery performance and support the future development of our manufacturing site.

What You'll Be Doing

Electrical Engineering

• Diagnose and repair electrical faults across production equipment and manufacturing systems.
• Carry out planned preventative maintenance and reactive breakdown support.
• Maintain motors, drives, sensors, control panels and associated electrical infrastructure.
• Support the installation, commissioning and upgrade of manufacturing equipment.
• Ensure all work is completed safely and in compliance with BS7671 and site standards.
• Update and maintain electrical drawings, schematics and technical documentation.

Automation & PLC Systems

• Fault-find, modify and optimise PLC-controlled machinery.
• Support and improve control systems, HMI interfaces and automated production equipment.
• Identify recurring automation issues and implement permanent corrective actions.
• Improve machine performance, reliability and production throughput through control system enhancements.
• Support automation projects, new equipment installations and production line upgrades.
• Work with cross-functional teams to develop innovative engineering solutions.

Continuous Improvement

• Lead and support projects focused on reducing downtime and increasing equipment effectiveness.
• Conduct root cause analysis on significant breakdowns and recurring issues.
• Drive improvements in machine reliability, energy efficiency and manufacturing performance.
• Support Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement initiatives across the site.
• Share technical knowledge and best practice with engineering colleagues.

What We're Looking For

Essential

• Time-served Electrical Engineer or equivalent NVQ Level 3, HNC or HND qualification.
• Experience within a manufacturing, production or industrial environment.
• Strong PLC fault-finding and programme modification experience.
• Knowledge of industrial automation, drives, sensors and control systems.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical documentation.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Proactive approach with a continuous improvement mindset.

Desirable

• Experience with Siemens, Allen Bradley, Mitsubishi or similar PLC platforms.
• SCADA and HMI configuration experience.
• Industrial networking knowledge.
• Experience of servo systems, robotics or automated machinery.
• 18th Edition Wiring Regulations qualification.
• Experience within FMCG, manufacturing, automotive or process industries.
