We are currently seeking a skilled and hands-on Extrusion Tooling Setter to join our team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with an engineering mindset who enjoys practical, detail-focused work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
The Role
As an Extrusion Tooling Setter, you will be responsible for preparing, maintaining, and setting extrusion tooling to ensure the efficient and high-quality production of extruded profiles. You will play a key role in maximising tooling performance, minimising downtime, and supporting production operations.
Key Responsibilities
Set up and remove tooling systems on extrusion lines safely and accurately
Support production teams in resolving tooling-related issues
Clean and maintain tooling during and after production runs to ensure efficiency
Dismantle, inspect and reassemble extrusion tools including dies and calibration equipment
Measure and document tooling dimensions to tight tolerances (0.01mm) using precision instruments
Carry out minor repairs and rectification of tooling damage
Maintain accurate inspection and maintenance records
Ensure tooling is assembled correctly using appropriate torque settings and fixings
Tooling & Maintenance Duties
Clean, polish and maintain dies to ensure optimal flow and performance
Steam clean and maintain calibration systems and vacuum chambers
Check water flow systems and remove any blockages or debris
Replace worn or damaged components such as seals, fittings and fasteners
Maintain cleaning equipment including sonic tanks and steam cleaners
General Duties
Maintain a safe, clean and organised work environment (5S standards)
Store and manage tooling correctly with proper identification
Carry out routine cleaning of tanks and equipment between runs
Monitor stock levels of parts and consumables, reporting shortages
Use a variety of hand tools, power tools, and workshop machinery
About You
We are looking for someone who is practical, detail-oriented, and passionate about engineering.
Ideal candidates will have:
A basic engineering qualification (NVQ, Diploma, Apprenticeship or similar)
Hands-on experience in a manufacturing or toolroom environment (desirable)
Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
Experience using measuring equipment and working to tight tolerances
A proactive approach with a keen eye for detail
Practical hobbies such as DIY, mechanics, or model making are also highly valued, as they demonstrate your passion for hands-on work.
